How to Enrol a User to an LMS Course

How to Enrol a User to an LMS Course

Idea
Overview
This tutorial guides administrators through enrolling users in a course. It focuses on assigning users the correct roles to ensure they have appropriate access.
By following this tutorial, staff can efficiently manage course participation and maintain an organised learning environment.
Warning
IMPORTANT: For clients with both SMS and LMS, student enrolment should be completed through the SMS (not the LMS). This tutorial applies only to LMS-only clients, allowing them to enrol students directly into LMS courses.

Notes
Step Tutorial
1. Open a course, then, from the Course tab, go to the Participants tab.

2. You will be directed to a page where you can view the course participants. To add a new user, click the Enrol users button.

3. A modal will appear, allowing you to add a user:
1. Select users or cohorts – Choose individual users or entire cohorts (groups of users) that you want to enrol in the course. You can search for users by name or email, or select a cohort to enrol multiple users at once.
2. Assign role – Choose the appropriate role for the user. Each role determines the level of access and permissions within the course:
• Manager – Has full control over the course, including managing enrolments, settings, and course content.
• Trainer – Can create and manage course content and activities, and interact with students.
• Non-editing Teacher – Can view and grade activities, and interact with students, but cannot edit course content.
• Student – Can access and participate in course activities but cannot modify course content or settings.
• Authenticated User – Has general access to the LMS but no special permissions within the course.
• LMS Admin – Has full administrative privileges across the entire LMS, not just the course.
3. Once you have selected the users/cohorts and assigned the roles, click the Enrol selected users and cohorts button.

4. You should now see the newly added user in the Participants list.

Info
NOTE: Some modifications you can make include: viewing enrolment details by clicking the i icon, editing the enrolment by clicking the cogwheel icon, or deleting the enrolment by clicking the bin icon. These icons can be found on the right side of the participant's name, under the Status column.
