How to Bulk Insert or Override Grades in the LMS

Overview
This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to manually adjust or override course total grades for multiple students at once by using the Single View Report in the LMS. The Single View Report allows instructors to efficiently modify grades for individual students or entire activities within a course, ensuring accurate grading where automated calculations may not apply.

IMPORTANT: You need Admin access to be able to perform this action.

NOTE: The Single View tab enables bulk grading for a particular activity or student. It allows you to quickly assign specific grade values to all ungraded items or perform mass grade overrides.

Step Tutorial
1. Sign in to your site with your Administrator credentials.

2. Navigate to the course/unit, then proceed to the Grades section.

3. Turn on the Edit Mode toggle at the right side of your main menu ribbon.

4. Select Single View from the dropdown.

5. Search for the student by name using the filter options at the top of the Single View page.

NOTE: You can switch between searching by activity or by student. Ensure “Student” is selected to search by name.

6. Click on the Grade Items button.

7. From the dropdown menu, select Course Total to override the final result.

8. Tick the box in the Override column of the table.

9. Type in the maximum grade in the Grade Box. You may check the highest range suggested in that column.

10. Optionally, add comments in the Feedback column to indicate the reason for overriding.

11. Repeat these steps for multiple students in the same course/unit if required.

12. Don’t forget to hit the Save button to save changes.
